What does EPWP stand for?

EPWP means Expanded Public Works Programme. It is a government programme that creates temporary work opportunities in infrastructure, social services, environment, and community projects.

Who can apply?

EPWP posts are aimed at unemployed South Africans who need income and work experience. Requirements vary by project, but many roles accept candidates with matric or short training courses.

  • You must usually live in or near the municipality running the project
  • Some posts require a short skills course or induction
  • Stipend amounts are set per project and shown in the advert

How EPWP pay works

EPWP workers typically receive a stipend, not a permanent salary. The amount and duration depend on the contract. Always check the advert for the monthly stipend and contract length.

Where to find EPWP jobs

Look for adverts from municipalities, provinces, and public entities. On Mzansi Work, search EPWP or browse our EPWP landing page for live listings from government sources.
