Position summary Industry: Steel Industry Job category: Engineering, Technical, Production and Manufacturing Location: Vanderbijlpark Contract: Permanent Remuneration: Market Related EE position: No Position summary Industry: Steel Industry Introduction The Head of Safety, Health and Wellness Management provides strategic leadership, governance, assurance, performance oversight, and technical excellence for safety, health, occupational hygiene, wellness, and process safety across ArcelorMittal South Africa. The role is responsible for developing and implementing the Safety, Health and Wellness strategy, ensuring compliance with legislative and Group requirements, driving continuous improvement, and promoting a proactive risk-based culture that protects employees, contractors, assets, and business sustainability. The incumbent serves as the principal advisor to executive leadership on Safety, Health and Wellness matters and acts as the primary interface between ArcelorMittal South Africa, ArcelorMittal Group, regulatory authorities, business units, and other external stakeholders Minimum requirements • B Honours Degree (NQF 8 / 10) in Safety Management or related discipline. • Management Development Program (MDP) or MBA is advantageous. • Professional Health & Safety qualifications are advantageous. • A relevant qualification in Safety / Contract Management and Certification in OHSAS 18000 / ISO 45001 will be advantageous • Qualification in Quality Management and Certified Quality Auditor status advantageous. • Minimum 12 years’ relevant experience in a managerial role • Management experience within a heavy industrial, mining, manufacturing, engineering, or related environment. • Demonstrated experience in strategy development, governance, compliance, risk management, and organizational leadership. • Sound knowledge of South African Health & Safety legislation. • Experience engaging with regulators, executive management, organized labour, and external stakeholders. • Advanced understanding of occupational safety, occupational health, wellness, and risk management systems
