Salary
R1 137 108 – R1 505 797 per annum, (an all-inclusive package), (OSD). Basic salary consists of 70% or 75% of total package, salary package will be structured according to Middle Management Service guidelines.

Requirements
National Senior Certificate, Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B Eng/BSC (Eng) or relevant qualification. Six (6) years post qualification experience required as a registered professional Engineer. Compulsory registration with ECSA as Professional Engineer. Statutory Certification: Valid Government Certificate of Competency (GCC Factories) is highly mandatory for plants exceeding 3000 kW / 10000 kVA. Competencies: Programme and project management, Engineering design and analysis knowledge, Research and development, Computer-aided engineering applications. Knowledge of legal compliance, technical report writing, Creating high performance culture, Professional judgment, Networking. Strategic capability and leadership, Problem solving and analysis, Decision making, Team leadership, Creativity, Financial Management, Customer focus and Responsiveness, Communication, Computer skills, People Management, Planning and Organising, Conflict Management, Negotiation skills, Change management. Comprehensive knowledge of the Public Service Act, PFMA, and the OHS Act. Strong engineering risk evaluation, root cause analysis, and strategic logic. Exceptional technical report writing and professional communication skills. A valid Driver’s licence. Computer literate.
Duties
Statutory Compliance: Formally accept the written GMR 2.1 appointment to oversee all machinery maintenance and safety requirements as per the OHS Act regulations and standards. Engineering Governance: Enforce occupational health and safety standards, lead incident investigations, conduct safety risk audits, and liaise with the Department of Employment and Labour inspectors. Maintenance & Asset Management: Develop, manage, and audit preventive, corrective, and predictive engineering maintenance systems to maximise plant and equipment uptime. Budgetary & Project Control: Control Capex and operational budgets, manage site services, maintenance projects and coordinate Maintenance & Repair shutdowns. People Leadership: Supervise technical staff, manage workplace discipline, and monitor performance and development.
