Requirements
National Senior Certificate, National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or relevant qualification. Six (6) years post qualification technical experience, Compulsory registration with ECSA as a professional engineering technician, Valid driver’s license. Proven performance in engineering management is essential. Project management, Technical design and analysis knowledge. Research and development. Computer-aided engineering applications (PLC). Knowledge of legal compliance. Technical report writing. Technical consulting, an initiative-taker who is flexible and adaptable to a changing work environment. Problem solving and analysis, Decision making, Teamwork, creativity, Finance management, Customer focus and responsiveness, Communication, Computer skills, Planning and organising, People management. A valid driver’s licence.
Duties
Manage technical services, Manage technical services and support in conjunction with Engineers, Technologists and associates in field, workshop and technical office activities. Ensure the promotion of safety in line with statutory and regulatory requirements. Evaluate existing technical manuals, standard drawings and procedures to incorporate new technology and ensure quality assurance of technical designs with specifications and authorise/make recommendations for approval by the relevant authority. Handle multiple projects and multi-disciplinary consulting and contracting teams. Manage administrative and related functions. Provide input into the budget process. Compile and submit report as required. Provide and consolidate inputs to the technical/engineering operational plan. Ensure the development, implementation and maintenance databases, and manage, supervise and control technical related personnel and assets. Diagnosing and solving complex problems, Apply solution and design technique, workflow (processes and procedures, Effective development and implementation of policies, procedures and strategies regarding engineering building issues. Research and development, Continuous professional development to keep up with new technology to improve and procedures, Research/literature studies on technical engineering technology to improve expertise and to liaise with relevant/councils on engineering related matters.

Successful candidates will also be subjected to security clearance processes. Where applicable, candidates will be subjected to a skills/ knowledge test. The competency assessment will be testing generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tools. Successful candidates will be appointed on a probation period of twelve 12/24 months.
