Requirements
Grade 12 Certificate. Enrolled Nurse Certificate. Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) 2026 as a Staff Nurse. Experience Grade 1: None. Experience Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as Staff Nurse. Experience Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as Staff Nurse. Knowledge, Skills Training and Competencies Required: Knowledge of Public Service policies, Acts, Regulations, Code of Conduct, Labour Relations Act, Batho Pele principles and Patients' Rights Charter. Knowledge of SANC rules and regulations. Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures. Good communication, writing and interpersonal skills. Ability to function effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Basic computer literacy. Ability to provide basic nursing care within the scope of practice. Ability to observe, identify and report changes in patients' conditions. Ability to maintain accurate nursing records and reports.
Duties
Provide basic nursing care to patients in accordance with the scope of practice. Assist Professional Nurses with patient care and nursing procedures. Maintain patient hygiene, comfort, dignity and safety. Observe and report changes in patients' conditions to the Professional Nurse. Assist with admission, transfer and discharge of patients. Maintain accurate patient records and reports. Ensure compliance with Infection Prevention and Control and Occupational Health and Safety practices. Assist with the effective utilisation resources. Participate in patient and staff education as directed. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care. Maintain professional growth and comply with ethical standards and the relevant Code of Conduct. NB: Must be prepared to work shifts as per allocation; this includes night shift, weekends and Public Holidays. The successful candidate may be required to rotate to or be deployed to other nursing components within the institution as and when operationally required.
