Requirements

Minimum Educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant. Registration with a professional council: Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant. Experience: Grade 1: None. Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant. Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant. Inherent requirements of the job: Willingness to work shifts, public holidays, after hours, night duty and weekend cover for nursing. Willingness to work overtime when needed. Willingness to rotate to other wards when required. Willingness to rotate between departments in the facility. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Good interpersonal, planning, and organisational skills. Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel & Outlook). Knowledge of the Mental Health Care Act, Child Care Act, Nursing Act and other relevant legislation. Knowledge and experience of Community Mental Health at Specialised Hospital level.

Duties

Assist patients with activities of daily living (physical care). To provide elementary clinical nursing care. Effective utilization of physical and financial resources. Maintain professional growth/ ethical standards and self- development.
