Campus National Department Information Technology Number of Positions 2 Location - Town / City National Minimum Education Level Bachelors Degree | Advanced Diploma Job Advert Summary Purpose of the Role: The Intermediate Full Stack Python Software Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing solutions across the full technology stack, and for building and maintaining modern applications. Working as part of an Agile team, the developer will contribute to DevOps practices and help enhance Eduvos's enterprise application capabilities. The role suits a developer with solid full stack experience in Python and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks who is committed to delivering high-quality, secure, and maintainable solutions. Minimum Requirements Qualifications / Education - A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent NQF-7 qualification (Advanced Diploma or Bachelor of Technology) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Experience: - 3–5 years of hands-on software engineering experience building and maintaining web applications across the full stack (frontend and backend) in a modern software environment. - Minimum of 3 years' experience with JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g. React, Vue.js, or Angular). - Minimum of 3 years' backend development experience with Python frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI. - Minimum of 2 years' experience working with PostgreSQL or other relational databases in a production environment. - Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) and containerisation (Docker). Duties and Responsibilities Duties & Responsibilities: Application Development & Maintenance - Design, develop, test, and implement custom full stack solutions, including frontend interfaces, backend services, and system integrations. - Build and maintain scalable RESTful/GraphQL APIs and the databases that support them. - Build and maintain application modules and workflows. - Write and maintain automated tests (unit and integration) to ensure code quality. - Apply secure coding practices to protect application and user data. Agile Practices - Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives). - Collaborate with team members to refine user stories and clarify requirements. - Deliver quality code within agreed timelines through iterative development. DevOps Practices - Support CI/CD processes and deployments using Azure DevOps (or similar). - Assist in automating deployment steps and monitoring application performance. - Escalate issues promptly to ensure system stability. Technical Contribution - Adhere to best practices, contribute to code reviews, and apply feedback to improve standards. - Stay informed on modern frontend and backend frameworks, tools, and best practices. - Provide input on technical designs and suggest improvements. Collaboration & Communication - Document technical designs, processes, and configurations. - Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions. - Communicate progress and challenges clearly to stakeholders. Problem Solving & Troubleshooting - Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly. - Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions. - Support production systems to ensure high availability. Functional and Behavioural Competencies Functional and Behavioural Competencies Technical / Functional Competencies: - Frontend Expertise: Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g. React, Vue.js, or Angular) alongside HTML5, CSS3/Tailwind, and modern state management. - Backend Expertise: Solid hands-on experience with Python frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI, and with building scalable RESTful/GraphQL APIs. - Databases: Practical knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimisation, and performance tuning, and the ability to write and troubleshoot complex SQL queries. Familiarity with NoSQL databases. - DevOps & Cloud: Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (or similar) for boards, repos, and CI/CD pipeline maintenance, and familiarity with cloud environments (AWS/Azure) and Docker. - Testing: Ability to write and maintain unit tests and integrate them into pipelines. - Working knowledge of web security, performance optimisation, and modern architecture patterns, and the ability to break down complex technical problems into clean, scalable solutions. - Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and the ability to apply them in daily tasks. - Good coding standards and debugging skills.
