We are looking to recruit a Occupational Therapist Intern Job Advert Summary: - The Occupational Therapist Intern will support the Claims function by working alongside our current Occupational Therapist, gaining practical experience and progressively developing the specialist knowledge required to support occupational disability and related claims. - This role is designed to build critical capability within the business while preparing the intern to become a future specialist in this field. Why This Role Matters: - This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn how occupational therapy influences life-changing claims decisions. - You'll help assess functional capacity, understand workplace demands, and contribute to fair, evidence-based outcomes for clients while building expertise that can shape your long-term career What Will You Do: - Shadowing and supporting the current Occupational Therapist in the assessment of occupational disability and functional capacity in relation to claims. - Assisting with the review and interpretation of medical and occupational information relevant to claims assessment. - Developing an understanding of occupational requirements, functional limitations and their impact on a claimant's ability to perform their occupation. - Supporting the Claims team with occupational therapy insights and recommendations where required. - Assisting with research, case reviews and the identification of trends and insights that can improve claims assessment and decision-making. - Building sufficient technical knowledge and experience to provide continuity of this specialist capability within Claims when the current Occupational Therapist retires in approximately three years. Required Knowledge and Experience What You Will Bring: - Completion of the relevant community service requirements, where applicable. - An interest in disability assessment, insurance claims and occupational rehabilitation would be advantageous. - Completed community service requirements (where applicable) - A passion for occupational rehabilitation, disability assessment, and improving client outcomes - Curiosity, analytical thinking, and a willingness to learn in a dynamic insurance environment Educational Requirements - BSc Occupational Therapy degree or equivalent recognised Occupational Therapy qualification. - Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), or eligible for registration.
