Role Purpose The Court Order, Tax and Bank Verification Manager is responsible for the administration, interpretation, implementation, and compliance with relevant pension legislation, fund rules, tax requirements, and service level agreements of all bank validation, court orders and taxation matters impacting member benefits. The incumbent will oversee operational processes, manage stakeholder relationships, mitigate risk, and ensure exceptional service delivery to our clients and regulatory bodies. Requirements Experience And Qualifications - Degree in Taxation and/or Law. - Postgraduate Diploma in Taxation. - 5-8 years' experience in retirement fund administration, employee benefits, or financial services. - Minimum 3 years' experience dealing with retirement fund benefits tax directives. - Proven experience interpreting tax legislation and advising on complex tax matters. Duties & Responsibilities Court Order and Tax Management Responsibilities - Serve as the subject matter expert on taxation relating to retirement funds, benefit payments, and court order settlements. - Ensure accurate application of tax legislation to: - Lump sum benefits. - Section 37D deductions. - Divorce order payments. - Maintenance order payments. Tax Compliance and Administration Responsibilities - Liaise with SARS regarding tax directives, disputes, and technical tax matters. - Ensure compliance with Income Tax Act requirements and SARS regulations. - Provide technical tax guidance to administrators, managers, trustees, employers, and members. - Interpret legislative amendments and communicate impacts to operational teams. - Review complex cases requiring specialist tax interpretation. - Provide recommendations on tax risks and opportunities affecting benefit administration. - Managing and maintaining tax controls and governance frameworks. - Ensure tax-related operational processes comply with regulatory requirements. - Identify tax compliance risks and implement corrective actions. - Participate in internal and external audits relating to tax administration. - Manage and support regulatory reporting and SARS reconciliation activities. - Conduct tax coaching for administrators and operational teams. - Develop tax reference guides, procedures, and knowledge articles. - Keep abreast of legislative changes, SARS practice notes, tax rulings, and industry developments. Divorce Order and Administration Responsibilities - Manage the complete lifecycle of divorce order cases from receipt to final payment. - Review and validate divorce orders against legislative and fund rule and practices. - Engage with legal to identify defects, ambiguities, or non-compliant orders. - Ensure accurate calculation of the non-member spouse benefit allocations. - Oversee the payments of approved divorce orders. - Ensure accurate record-keeping and maintenance of member data. - Lead and develop a team responsible for divorce order administration. - Monitor individual and team productivity. - Identify training requirements and implement development plans. - Manage performance against service delivery standards.
