About the role As a Trainee Manager, your purpose is to learn all the ins and outs of managing a supermarket, its products and the employees who make the store a success. You'll learn how to provide leadership and direct the highest level of quality service by creating a pleasant and friendly atmosphere, while treating every customer and team member like family! What you'll do - Assist in the daily management of supermarket operations to ensure smooth and efficient store functioning. - Support the development and coaching of team members to foster a motivated and high-performing workforce. - Ensure compliance with company policies, hygiene, health, and safety standards at all times. - Contribute to effective inventory control and loss prevention initiatives to sustain financial performance. - Provide excellent customer service, creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all shoppers. - Participate in financial and administrative tasks, aiding in budgeting, reporting, and cost control. - Promote a positive store culture based on trust, honesty, integrity, and respect. - Support in implementing marketing and promotional activities to drive sales and customer engagement. - Assist in resolving customer and employee concerns promptly and professionally. - Learn and apply leadership principles to prepare for future managerial responsibilities. What you bring - Matric certificate or equivalent secondary education qualification is required. - Previous experience in retail or customer service environments is advantageous. - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with customers and team members. - Basic understanding of retail operations, including inventory management and loss prevention, is preferred. - Demonstrated leadership potential with willingness to learn and develop management skills. - Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently. - Proactive problem-solving skills to address customer and employee concerns professionally. - Good organisational skills and attention to detail to support administrative and financial tasks. - Commitment to upholding company values of honesty, integrity, and respect to foster a positive workplace culture. - Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as required in a retail environment.
