About the role As a Functional Analyst III – Finance Systems, you will play a critical role in shaping and enabling Shoprite's finance technology landscape. Working at the intersection of finance and technology, you will drive the analysis, design, configuration, delivery, and optimisation of finance systems solutions across the ERP ecosystem. You will partner closely with finance stakeholders, product teams, architects, developers, and technology leaders to ensure business requirements are translated into scalable, compliant, and fit-for-purpose solutions. Leveraging your expertise in finance processes, ERP systems, and functional analysis, you will help deliver innovative solutions that improve financial operations, support business growth, and enhance decision-making across the organisation. As a senior member of the team, you will also provide technical leadership and mentorship to Functional Analysts, champion best practices, and contribute to the successful delivery of complex business-critical initiatives. What you'll do Analyse and Design Finance Solutions - Lead the analysis of complex business and finance requirements across ERP and finance technology platforms. - Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications and solution designs. - Conduct gap analyses and assess the impact of proposed changes on finance processes and systems. - Recommend innovative and practical solutions that align with business objectives and governance requirements. - Present functional designs and secure stakeholder alignment and sign-off. Configure, Deliver and Support ERP Solutions - Drive solution configuration and customisation to meet business requirements. - Lead and coordinate development and configuration activities across delivery teams. - Support solution implementation, training, and post-go-live support. - Develop and maintain solution documentation, configuration records, and support procedures. - Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve business processes and system efficiency. Testing, Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement - Define testing strategies, requirements, and test scenarios for complex finance solutions. - Oversee test preparation, execution, and documentation in line with established standards. - Drive improvements in testing practices, tools, and environments. - Lead troubleshooting efforts and manage the identification, prioritisation, and resolution of system defects. - Perform quality assurance reviews and promote best practices across teams. Integration and Data Management - Lead complex system integration initiatives across finance and enterprise platforms. - Collaborate with technical teams to define data conversion, reporting, and integration requirements. - Ensure finance systems support accurate transactional processing, reporting, and data integrity. - Provide guidance on system interfaces, dependencies, and data flows. Project Delivery and Agile Ways of Working - Plan, prioritise, and coordinate work across multiple projects and initiatives. - Estimate effort, manage risks and dependencies, and provide accurate delivery reporting. - Support delivery throughout the software development lifecycle. - Facilitate agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. - Champion agile principles and continuous improvement across delivery teams. Technical Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement - Serve as a technical lead within the Functional Analyst team. - Mentor and support Functional Analysts, helping build capability and technical expertise. - Foster strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders. - Provide expert guidance on complex solution design decisions and strategic initiatives. - Share knowledge, best practices, and emerging technology trends across teams. What you bring Qualifications - Relevant 3-year qualification in Information Technology, Finance, or a related field. - Business Analysis, Functional Analysis, or similar professional certification. - SAP Finance Configuration certification or equivalent practical experience. Experience - 5+ years' experience in a Senior Functional Analyst, ERP Functional Consultant, or similar role. - Proven experience analysing, configuring, and supporting finance systems and ERP solutions. - Experience defining and executing user acceptance testing and software testing processes. - Experience working within complex enterprise environments and large-scale technology projects. - Exposure to retail, financial services, or similarly complex industries. - Experience managing vendors and external delivery partners. - Working knowledge of project delivery and software development lifecycle methodologies. Technical Skills - Strong knowledge of ERP finance systems and finance business processes. - SAP Finance configuration expertise. - Finance systems analysis and requirements management. - Functional design and solution configuration. - Systems integration, data conversion, and reporting requirements analysis. - Software testing and quality assurance methodologies. - Incident and defect management using JIRA or similar tools. - Knowledge of IT operational support processes. - Understanding of cloud technologies and modern technology platforms. - Foundational understanding of software development principles and programming concepts.
