Position summary Industry: Food & Beverages Job category: Retail Operations Location: Cape Town Contract: Permanent Remuneration: Market Related EE position: No Position summary Industry: Food & Beverages Introduction SPAR | Bean Tree We are looking for a friendly, energetic and customer-focused Hostess / Bean Tree Manager at SPAR Hasendaal to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Bean Tree, while creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for every customer. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring excellent customer service, smooth daily operations, product quality and a clean, well-presented environment, while supporting the achievement of sales and profitability targets. Job description Key Responsibilities - Manage the day-to-day operations of the Bean Tree. - Welcome and engage with customers in a warm, professional and friendly manner. - Ensure customers receive excellent service and a positive overall experience. - Oversee the preparation and presentation of beverages, food and other Bean Tree offerings in accordance with required standards. - Ensure the Bean Tree is consistently clean, organised and attractively presented. - Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering, receiving and controlling stock. - Minimise wastage and ensure effective stock rotation. - Manage cash-up procedures and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures. - Monitor sales and identify opportunities to increase turnover and customer spend. - Promote Bean Tree products, specials and promotions. - Ensure food safety, hygiene and health-and-safety standards are maintained at all times. - Coordinate and supervise staff, including allocating duties and monitoring performance. - Train and coach team members on customer service, product knowledge and operational standards. - Address customer queries and complaints promptly and professionally. - Ensure equipment and facilities are maintained and report any faults or maintenance requirements. - Assist with administrative duties, including stock, sales and operational reporting. - Work closely with the Store Management team to ensure the Bean Tree operates effectively within the SPAR environment. Minimum requirements Minimum Requirements - Previous experience in hospitality, coffee shop, restaurant, food service or retail. - Previous supervisory or management experience will be advantageous. - Experience in customer service and cash handling. - Good communication and interpersonal skills. - Basic computer and administrative skills. - Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards will be advantageous. - Ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, where required.
