The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of principals through proactive risk assessment, threat mitigation, secure transportation, and protective operations. Duties & Responsibilities - Provide close protection and personal security services to designated principals, executives, and VIPs. - Ensure the safety and security of clients through proactive threat awareness and risk mitigation. - Conduct route planning, reconnaissance, and security assessments prior to movements and events. - Escort and protect principals during travel, meetings, site visits, and public appearances. - Perform defensive and protective driving duties when required. - Carry and utilize firearms in accordance with legal requirements, company policies, and approved operating procedures. - Maintain continuous situational awareness to identify, prevent, and respond to potential threats. - Conduct access control, screening, and security checks at designated venues and locations. - Liaise with clients, management, law enforcement agencies, and emergency services when required. - Prepare and submit accurate occurrence books, incident reports, risk assessments, and daily activity reports. - Ensure operational vehicles, communication equipment, firearms, and protective equipment are serviceable and compliant. - Respond effectively to emergencies, security incidents, medical emergencies, and crisis situations. - Maintain strict confidentiality regarding principals, operations, and sensitive information. - Adhere to all Tsebo Group, Thorburn Security Solutions, client, PSIRA, Firearms Control Act, and Occupational Health and Safety requirements. - Attend and successfully complete all required training, assessments, firearm re-certifications, and operational briefings. - Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times while representing the company and client. Skills and Competencies - Threat and Risk Assessment - Protective Security Operations - Defensive and Tactical Driving - Firearm Proficiency (Handgun and Shotgun) - Situational Awareness - Communication and Interpersonal Skills - Emergency Response Management - Report Writing - Professionalism and Integrity - Ability to Work Under Pressure Qualifications - Grade 12 / Matric Certificate - Valid PSIRA Grade A Registration - Valid Competency Certificate for firearm possession and use - Handgun Business Purpose Certificate - Shotgun Business Purpose Certificate - Valid South African Driver's Licence (Code B or higher) - Minimum 3–5 years' experience in Close Protection, VIP Protection, Executive Protection, or a related security environment - Proven experience in defensive and protective driving - No criminal record - Physically fit and medically capable of performing operational duties - Excellent communication and report-writing skills - Willingness to travel and work irregular hours, including weekends and public holidays
