Tracking Number AGR 40/2026 Department Agriculture Salary level 11 Enquiries Ms A Petersen at (021) 808 5010 Location - Town / City Eden Job Purpose The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to promote the Sustainable Resource Use and Management Programme of the Western Cape Department of Agriculture in the Metropole area, focusing on planning of farms, administration of schemes and delivering advice to stakeholders. Minimum Requirements National Diploma in Civil Engineering or Degree in Civil Engineering or appropriate B.Sc. Degree or appropriate B.Sc. Degree in Agriculture; A minimum of 6 years’ experience required in natural resources; 3 years managerial experience. Recommendation None. Key Performance Areas Manage the administration of schemes and provision of agricultural disaster risk reduction (prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and relief) support services; Manage planning of farms and LandCare services in the conservation of the natural agricultural resources; Render advise to stakeholders and promote integrated governmental relations and partnerships building; Financial Management; People Management. Competencies Knowledge of the following : Land Conservation Act and financial schemes; Protection of irrigated lands; Rehabilitation of agricultural lands; Engineering services; Risk and disaster management practices and disaster relief schemes; Public Finance Management Act; Legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices in respect of natural resource use and management; Provincial, national and international matters related to natural resource use and management; Operational management practices; Policy development, and operational management, monitoring and review processes; Modern systems of governance and administration; Public service procedures, processes and systems; Regulatory Framework that governs the Public Service; People management; Public Finance Management Act, National and Provincial Treasury Regulations, other financial policies, prescripts, directives and collective agreements; Policies of the government of the day; Labour Relations legislation and Regulations. Skills in the following: Computer literacy in MS Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Communication skills (written and verbal); Negotiation; Planning and organising; Ability to function on a conceptual level; Motivational skills; Policy implementation; Research; Project Management; Diversity Management; Presentation; Facilitation; Stakeholder management; Report writing. Remuneration All-inclusive salary package of R 932 292 per annum (Salary level 11) Note on remuneration in addition service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
