Tracking Number AGR 48/2026 Department Agriculture Salary level 11 Enquiries Dr M Wolhuter at at (021) 808 7606 Location - Town / City Elsenburg Job Purpose The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to provide comprehensive veterinary services, including animal diseases control, Import and Export Policy & Control, epidemiology, quarantine, veterinary public health, animal welfare, animal health, laboratory, clinical services; stock remedies/ animal feeds. Minimum Requirements NQF level 8 BVMch/BVSc as recognised by the South African Veterinary Council; Compulsory registration with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC); A minimum of 1 year post qualification experience; A valid (Code EB or higher) driving license. Recommendation None. Key Performance Areas Provide Animal Health services; Provide training and awareness programs (veterinary extension services) to communities with regard to Animal Health; Render a Veterinary Laboratory Diagnostic and Epidemiology Service; Render a Veterinary Public Health service; Render an animal disease surveillance service; Provide training and awareness programs (extension services) to communities with regards to VPH; Implement contingency plans and conduct risk assessments for the mitigation of outbreak of diseases; Perform all administrative and related functions. Remuneration All-inclusive salary package of R 932 292 per annum (Salary level 11) Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
