Tracking Number LG 45/2026 Department Local Government Salary level 13 Enquiries Mr. Franick Matthee (021 483 2051) Location - Town / City Cape Town Job Purpose The Western Cape Government is looking to employ a dynamic, high performing individual to manage the Directorate to deliver an effective and efficient professional service with regard to long term municipal infrastructure planning and support, in terms of municipal infrastructure maintenance, development and funding. Minimum Requirements * A relevant qualification on NQF level 7 as recognised by SAQA; * 5 years’ middle/senior management experience. Recommendation None Key Performance Areas * Monitor municipal infrastructure planning, maintenance, development and budgeting; * Facilitate long-term municipal infrastructure planning and funding with due regard to municipal budgets and joint district and metro approach processes; * Facilitate support to municipalities with full life-cycle asset planning, frameworks, policies and systems; * Support municipalities with infrastructure governance and services delivery; * Ensure that monitoring of performance of municipalities and provide professional and technical support with regard to the implementation of the Municipal Capital Budget; * Strategic Management (including change management); and * Financial and People Management. Note: The remuneration package consists of a basic salary (70%) and the employer’s contribution to the Pension Fund. The remainder of the package may be structured according to your personal needs. Following the technical exercise and interview, a maximum of three (3) SMS candidates will undergo psychometric assessments to assess cognitive capabilities, behavioural preferences, emotional intelligence, and integrity. - The successful candidate will be required to complete the Senior Management Pre-Entry Programme (Nyukela) and submit the certificate before he/she can be appointed to this post. The purpose of the Senior Management Pre-Entry Programme, which is a public service specific training programme applicable to all applicants who aspire to join the SMS, is to ensure that potential SMS members have a background in processes and procedures linked to the SMS. The duration of the online Pre-Entry Programme is 120 notional hours (15 days).
